Grow It Eat It , Ellicott City , MD

Our vision- One million Maryland food gardeners producing their own affordable, healthy food. This University of Maryland Extension initiative was launched in 2009 to teach Marylanders how to start and maintain vegetable, fruit, and herb gardens. Master Gardener volunteers across the state are teaching classes and workshops in an effort to increase the number and productivity of Maryland food gardens. The Home and Garden Information Center is supporting the campaign by fielding the public's food gardening questions. Visit the Grow It eat It web site and join this exciting gardener network.

Maryland Department of Agriculture Archives , MD

Agriculture remains the largest single land use in Maryland, with 2,100,000 acres, or roughly 33% of total land area used for farming. Approximately 350,000 people are employed in some aspect of agriculture, making it the largest commercial industry in the State. In 2000, some 12,400 farms averaged 169 acres each. The majority of farmland in Maryland is located in the north central part of the State and the upper Eastern Shore.

Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Regulation , MD

The Pesticide Regulation Section administers Maryland's Pesticide Applicator's Law, sponsors training courses in the handling, storage and use of pesticides, conducts examinations to determine that pesticide applicators are competent to follow prescribed pest control practices, enforces federal laws on the sale and use of pesticides, and investigates pesticide accidents or incidents and consumer complaints on pesticide misuse.

Montgomery County Agricultural Services Division , Derwood , MD

The Agricultural Services Division works to support and promote the agricultural industry in Montgomery County. Our nationally-recognized farmland preservation initiative is one of the most successful in the country. Agricultural marketing events such as seasonal farmers’ markets and the annual Farm Tour and Harvest Sale connect our farmers to thousands of customers.
